ABOUT US

Who We Are

Bronwen Whitaker Picture Framers formerly trading under the names 'ISL productions' or 'ISL frames' has found a second home in leafy Tufnell Park and is bringing 26 years of expertise to the residents of N7. The workshop is busy catering for long term customers who are primarily art collectors, galleries and artists. But now we have a shopfront on a North London parade we can easily serve the neighbourhood and have begun hosting regular events utilising the gallery space at the front of the shop.

BESPOKE FRAMING

We offer bespoke framing up to museum standards but if your need is a minor repair of a family photograph we can do that too. We have one of the widest selections of mouldings and mountboards for a shop in London and Bronwen's taste and expertise in recommending the right framing for your artwork is renowned.

We also have a selection of pre-made and sale frames in stock if you're in a hurry or in a pinch!

CONSERVATION

Bronwen Whitaker picture framers also specialises in the conservation of works on paper, parchment and canvas; ranging from posters and maps to prints, drawings, manuscripts, books and original artwork.

Conservation is divided into three areas.

Conservation
The majority of work done involves direct intervention where we carry out an initial assessment of an item to decide an appropriate method of repair. The work aims to keep as much of the original as possible with the aim of stabilising its condition and retarding further deterioration.

Preservation
The initial consultancy service offers condition surveys, cost analysis and examination of the environment to give an overview of how to improve the preservation of the books, documents, pictures or canvas.

Restoration
Restoration is an extension of conservation which works on disguising as much as possible the repair work to any given item. For example for paper, more time is spent in retouching and toning papers exactly. This is more common with the lining and retouching of posters, prints, drawings, and watercolours for collectors or dealers.

PICTURE HANGING

With an extensive background in the Arts, Bronwen and her friendly team provide a reliable picture hanging service to private homes, corporate and gallery clients. Services provided: Professional installation of Fine Art, Decor, Mirrors and Displays. Knowledge of the aesthetics of placing pictures, objects, art, mirrors and other furnishings in your home or workplace. Sound technical expertise - Many years experience in the safe handling and fixing all kinds of objects to walls, floors and ceilings. Please contact us to discuss your work.

EXHIBITION

Bronwen Whitaker Picture Framers is a versatile space perfect for exhibitions, performance evenings, book launches, film screenings and poetry readings.

The space is 5m x 6m with an extra 1.4m x 1.4m. Total venue standing is 80 people.

The gallery is fitted with a sophisticated, fully adjustable lighting system. The gallery has a toilet and a small kitchen stocked with a fridge, tea making facilities, and wine glasses. Wireless internet is available for the duration of the hire of the gallery. Wall space is available for hire alongside the room being used as a functional shop. Installation and curatorial help and advice is available for exhibitions if the individual would like it. A projector, easels and seating is also available to use.
